Asian Side Istanbul Itinerary: Kadıköy to Çamlıca Tower
How to spend a day on Istanbul's Asian side, from Kadıköy food markets to Çamlıca Tower sunset.
Morning in Kadıköy and Moda
Start with the ferry to Kadıköy and walk through the market streets — fishmongers, cheese shops, olive stalls and coffee roasters. Continue to Moda for a seafront coffee with a view back at the European skyline.
Afternoon in Üsküdar
- Take the ferry or Marmaray from Kadıköy to Üsküdar
- Visit Mihrimah Sultan and Şemsi Pasha mosques by the water
- Drink tea on the waterfront promenade facing the Bosphorus
- Allow time for the metro-plus-taxi climb to Çamlıca Tower
Sunset at Çamlıca Tower
Arrive at Çamlıca Tower at least 90 minutes before sunset. The west-facing windows fill quickly, but the reward is a single view that takes in the Bosphorus, the bridges and the old city turning gold.
Getting back to the European side
After dark, take a taxi down to Üsküdar and cross by ferry or Marmaray. The city lights from the water are a fitting end to an Asian side Istanbul day.
