Aim to be inside 60–90 minutes before sunset. That gives you time for the lift, a full circuit to choose your spot, and daylight shots before the light turns. In summer sunset falls around 20:30 and in midwinter closer to 17:00, so check the date rather than the season.
It gets busy. The window seats in the café fill first, and the prime glass fills next. Booking ahead does not reserve a spot at the window, so arriving early matters more than which ticket you hold.
